Yesterday was a big day for adding new music to our sites. 3 of them, in fact…14 new songs in total.
First up, updates to GreatSongsFree.com:
Jeff Wofford is one of those renaissance men you hear about from time to time. Author, blogger, dad, game designer, seminary student…and yes, musician. He wrote and produced a nice batch of songs some years back, and then set the whold thing aside to pursue other stuff that he felt was more important for the time being. Lucky for us, he’s still willing to share them with those who want to listen. We’ve posted “Londontown” and “Trouble” on this site and two others over on our sister site, ChristianMPFree.com. We’re betting that you’ll enjoy these. Great hooks, solid production and some interesting retro musical influences flowing throughout. There’s no album to buy, no merch to push, no nothing. But, if you like these songs as much as we do, be sure to drop by Jeff’s web site and let him know.
Next, updates to ChristianMPFree.com:
Born out of the alt-worship movement of the 90s, Toby Walters represents another link in a new generation of worship leaders. He began leading worship at a young age, and more recently, has worked with talented producers and worship leaders on developing a sound heavily characterized by a focused, smoldering intensity. From his latest album, Somewhere to Begin, he’s sharing 3 songs with us: “Busy Man”, “Different Day” and “Light My Way”.
Dallas resident Jeff Wofford is better known for his wordsmithing and his game development than for his music…but that’s not because of any lack in his writing or musicianship. Rather, he’s just busy with other stuff (for example, his studies at Dallas Theological Seminary)…so it might be easy to overlook him. However, after listening to the catchy melodies and retro musical influences (you can’t miss the little Beatlesque touches) of “Don’t Make Me Dream” and “Leap”, we found him quite memorable. In fact, both of those songs “leapt” right onto our iPods. Jeff doesn’t have an album to sell, so you can download all his stuff for free from his web site. If you enjoy his music, be sure to let him know.
And finally, new additions to FreeKidsMusic.com:
Debbie and Friends have brought us another of their delightful songs. “Opposite” is from their forthcoming album, Story Songs and Sing Alongs.
Oren Pfefferman holds a doctorate in child psychology, and he incorporates current research about the way kids learn in his songwriting. He’s the leader of a California-based band called Oren and the Hiccups, and this time they share with us the energetic title song from their new album, Turn Around The Sun.
David Rovics is a folkie…normally singing to adult audiences about passion and his politics. But he’s also written a bunch of easily-digestable songs for kids in a collection called Pirate Songs for Kids, and he’s made them all available for free download from his web site. We’re sharing three of them here this time: “If I Was a Dog”, “Roller Coaster Train” and “Tired of Sitting in the Car”.
Dennis “D. Jay” King works as a public school special ed teacher in New Jersey, and has a unique take on melody and especially harmonies. He’s sharing with us the title song from his album Buggy Baloo.
And finally, Adam and The Couch Potatoes have a song for us that will (trust me!)…I say WILL get stuck in your head. It’s called “Never Gonna Be Bored!”, and it’s from their new album, Live at Centennial Pre-School.
